01 / profile About

I research learning, design experiences and connect evidence with action.

My professional background brings together pedagogy, educational research, economics, digital communications and technology. I am interested not only in what people learn, but in the conditions that enable them to set goals, engage with knowledge, use feedback and transfer learning into new contexts.

I combine research-informed design, learning experience design and AI literacy. This lets me work across theoretical frameworks, programme architecture, digital infrastructure, learner journeys and educational communication.

My work places the adult learner as an active agent of their own development. My core interests therefore include learner agency, heutagogy, digital learning environments, AI-supported learning and cognitive accessibility.

A meaningful learning environment does more than deliver knowledge — it expands a person’s capacity to act.

These fields are not a hierarchy: the core stays sharp while neighbouring areas shift depending on the task.

One question, eleven ways into it

My research is guided by one central question: how can digital learning environments be designed so that technology strengthens learner agency, reflection and the real capacity to learn?

CENTRAL QUESTION How can environments expand the capacity to learn?
  • Heutagogy Self-determined learning
  • Learner agency Choice, reflection, action
  • Adult learning Learning across working lives
  • Digital learning environments Systems that shape experience
  • AI-supported learning Technology with a pedagogy
  • Learning ecology Distributed contexts and resources
  • Capability approach Real opportunities to learn
  • Cognitive accessibility Attention, pace, cognitive load
  • Neuroinclusive design Difference as a design input
  • Educational change How practice moves

Designing a Digital Learning Environment for Adult Learners Based on the Heutagogical Approach

The study focused on designing a digital environment for the professional development of educators learning to use generative AI. Its theoretical foundation included heutagogy, learner agency, self-determined learning, the capability approach and the idea of learning as a distributed ecology.

The practical component was connected to the professional development programme “AI Assistants as a Growth Point for Educators’ Digital Competence” and the analysis of engagement, feedback and participants’ use of AI tools.

05 / method Method

From questions to evidence, from evidence to experience

A process for keeping technological novelty distinct from educational value.

01

Frame the problem

I start with the problem, context and human behaviour — not with a platform or format.

02

Build an evidence base

I work with research, data, feedback and existing practice.

03

Design the experience

I shape the learner journey, educational actions, feedback and digital environment.

04

Prototype and test

I turn a hypothesis into a prototype, observe interaction and collect evidence.

05

Reflect and improve

I analyse constraints, revise the solution and record transferable principles.

Not a list of vacancies but a trajectory: the key points are sharp, the intervals between them stay in motion.
